NEW DELHI, May 13 – India signed a 10-year contract with Iran on Monday to develop and operate the Iranian port of Chabahar, the Narendra Modi-led government said, strengthening relations with a strategic Middle Eastern nation.

  – India’s contract with Iran over the Chabahar Port will increase the trade by giving direct access to Central Asia, Afghanistan, and beyond. Thus, the dependency on the traditional routes will be reduced and the economic integration in the region will be enhanced.
