Narendra Modi to meet Giorgia Meloni soon; India to attend G7 Summit

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is preparing to meet the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni after a telephonic conversation, where Modi thanked Meloni for the invitation to be part of the G7 Summit. The summit is hereby planned to take place in Puglia, Italy in June 2024 and would also feature outreach sessions that would be presided over by global leaders with topics touching diverse international concerns.

They both underlined their interest in deepening the strategic bilateral relationship between India and Italy. They also spoke about the continuity of the Initiatives that are launched during India’s G20 Presidency especially the ones that benefit Global South (India Today) (Hindustan Times) (mint).

This meeting similarly extends their diplomatic interactions, which they have previously held during the COP28 Summit in Dubai in December 2023. The upcoming G7 Summit offers another opportunity where the two leaders can engage in an exchange of ideas on issues of interest within the region and the rest of the world​ (Telegraph India)​.
