The Talc Tangle: J&J’s Baby Powder Difficulties

Johnson & Johnson, one of the most well-known identities in the world of healthcare products, has become involved in a protagonist’s legal dispute over its famous baby powder. Right in the heart of the action Johnson & Johnson declared the amount of the settlement would be $8. 9 billion over 25 years to cover all payments for all present and future claims such as the ones claiming that the baby powder and other cosmetic products of the company caused cancer. This settlement is going to result in a subsidiary filling for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy which is the voluntary form of bankruptcy that the company is pursuing in order to deal with the unbearable weight of the legal claims against it.

Notwithstanding these mega-resolutions, Johnson & Johnson’s legal battles over their baby powder have no indication of letting up. Beside that, the law suits are still at large, with a plaintiff arguing that the company knew about the cancer risks linked to its talc-based products yet failed to alert the consumers.
